Makeup Studio Face It Cream Foundation // First Impression

image

Hi Everyone!

I hope you’re all well its been a busy busy week for me , I worked 7 days in a row all 8 hour shifts and late nights , so its nice to have a day off to write a little blog post. This weekend it was my sisters 18th birthday and I was in search for a really good foundation since I wanted to invest in something that was going to make my skin look amazing for the night and also last throughout the night. I decided to takea  trip into Derry and go to the Paddy McGurgan makeup pro store and check out what they had to offer in foundations.
image

I have quite dry skin so I knew I wanted to try something that wasn’t going to cling to any dry spots or make my skin look worse than it was. I opted for the Makeup Studio Face It Cream Foundation in light beige since it offered that dewy glow to my face but also promised to stay put for those long hours of partying.

image

The foundation comes in a little pot ( which is super cute and different to what I was used to ) and you’re able to attach any other colours you have together and stack them up! ( which I also found really cool for the aspring makeup artist who needs different colours in their kit) The foundation cost £24.50 which came out at around 29 for me.

I applied my foundation with the real techniques buffing brush , it was recommended to use a duo fibre brush for this foundation but I found I didn’t have much control over it , so decided to change the brush I used and it worked a treat. The girl who colour matched me also said that the foundation would easily last you 6 months since you really don’t need to use all that much to get a full coverage look, and she was totally right!

The foundation applied evenly and naturally it literally looked just like my skin. I was so pleased with this foundation since it really did do what it promised. The foundation lasted all night even after all the dancing and drinking that we did!

I hope you liked this little post , have you tried this product of heard of it? I would love to hear your thoughts below in the comments

Nyx Soft Matte Lip Cream // Morocco

image(1)

Hi everyone!

So recently I purchased two Soft Matte Lip Creams and decided to take them for a whirl and see how I like them. I heard so many good things about the SMLC’s so I had to try it out for myself , I picked up Morocco and Antwerp. I decided I’ll review Morocco first and then Antwerp at a later date.

I am all about my oranges , I adore orange lippies so without a doubt I was immediately drawn to morocco , I love any type of orange lipstick , be it vibrant or muted and Morocco is definitely vibrant!

image(2)

I decided to swatch the tester before I bought it and I was in awe. The colour was this extremely vibrant orangey red which was something that I don’t have in my collection so it was definitely coming home with me.

The smell of all the SMLC’s smell like cake and icing , so if you aren’t a big fan of sweet smelling lip products , maybe you should turn away now. The smell for me was the second best part ( after the pigmentation of course) I love cake so this sat really well with me.

The texture is quite moussey but also light ,  it doesn’t completely dry to a matte finish but I like that , I hate when my lips feel dry and this matte lip cream keeps them feeling hydrated but gives the appearance of a matte lip.

I adore this product and I’m so happy I picked it up. You could even get away with wearing Morocco as a festive colour for Christmas! Have you tried any of the Nyx Soft Matte Lip Creams? Whats your favourite shade? Leave a comment below!

Winter Appropriate Makeup ♡

image (9)

Hi Guys ,

Look who’s being productive on the blog this week! I’ve been thinking a lot the past month on how I could change up my makeup and incorporate different products into my daily makeup  routine and make my “look” more “Winter appropriate” so I decided to sit down to a lovely cup of tea as the rain beats down outside and write about the products that can simply change up the look of your makeup to make you look like you’re ready to take on Winter!

In the colder months some women tend to get a little drier than usual , so I swap my usual L’Oreal infallible matte foundation for the Bourjois Healthy Mix Foundation, this is a very dewy foundation so it will give you a glow even if you suffer from dry skin.

Winter is all about those dark red , cranberry lips and a staple in my Winter makeup is the Kate Moss Rimmel Lipstick in 107 , this is a much raved about , much loved product in the beauty community and so it should be. It’s an amazing dark red that just makes a statement!

Golden eyes is a must for the winter , it shows off a bit of glitz and glamour and adds that sparkle to your eyes , personally I love golden eyes for the Christmas season because to me it just reminds me of how festive this time of year is! I love adding the Maybelline Colour Tattoo eyeshadow to the center of my lids because it makes your eyes appear bigger and sparkly  , keeping with eyeshadow I found a 15 warm coloured eyeshadow Palette on ebay a while back and thought that it would be perfect for creating warm toned looks for the winter. I adore the redish brown in the center for a crease colour to add something a little different to the look.

I don’t know about anyone else but i love glitter during Christmas , sometimes it can be a little bit of a task trying to get rid of any residue it leaves behind , but it adds something new to your makeup. I got the Collection Glam Crystals a while back and wanted to try something different with them , I actually add this to my inner corner of my eye when I do all matte on my eyes , I feel it really makes my eyes pop and its something different and cool for the winter.

Blush is a huge element that could change your makeup for the better during this season! I find deeper blushes to be amazing for this time of year. The Catrice Illuminating Blush in ” I am Nuts about You” is the perfect colour to be going into Winter with.

I tend to use less bronzer during Winter , because I feel I want to keep my makeup looking as season appropriate as possible  I also change my foundation to a shade lighter than usual because I feel it flatters the deeper colours a lot more I find highlighting and contouring during the Winter to look a little full on so I do tend not to use a lot of contour and only highlight slightly so I look as natural as possible.

Thanks so much for reading guys , hopefully you found some of this helpful , if you would like a mini tutorial on this look , feel free to comment below and I’ll get to it! if you have any questions leave them below and I’ll get back to you!

Review: Catrice Even Skin Tone Foundation

DSCN0761

Hi Everyone!

I’m back again with a foundation review , So I think everyone who reads my blog will know I have a mixture of different foundations and I use all of them , but my all time favourite is the L’Oreal infallible matte foundation and has been now for a long time. I haven’t actually went out and purchased a new foundation since then , I have been buying backups , but when I seen the Even Skin Tone foundation in my local pharmacy at the price of 8.49 , I pounced on it.

I’m a huge fan of inexpensive products , I’m a student and I can’t afford to pay out for high end products all the time , so I usually stick to the drugstore stuff until it gets to a special occasion like a birthday or Christmas, so this foundation was right up my street.Lets get on with the review.

Coverage:

The coverage of this foundation is medium to buildable , on days where I don’t want a heavy coverage with the L’oreal infallible matte foundation , I tend to stick to this.

Texture:

This is probably the hardest thing for me to describe, its liquidy but not runny , its thick but also feels thin , its basically everything but looks perfect on the skin!

Smell:

The only thing I hated with this foundation is the smell , it stinks! its like a chemically smell , but I noticed with most of Catrices foundations they have that distinct smell , so maybe Catrice thinks its gorgeous and doesn’t want to change it , who knows?

Durability

So I put this foundation on at around 7;30 in the morning ( hurray for early morning classes!) and I find that it lasts around 5/6 hours , its not long wearing but I do tend to touch my face throughout the day.

If you’re looking for a foundation that is going to last you through the day, unfortunately this isn’t going to be the one , it will start to wear off on places you tend to get oily throughout the day . If you’re looking for a foundation that wont look cakey and wont be a mask on your face , this is your foundation. It’s very natural on the skin and makes it appear as its just your own skin but better.

I hope you enjoyed this little review, if there are any other products you would like me to review feel free to drop them below and I’ll take a little look!

Review: Primark Sultry Lashes

image (4)

Hi everyone

Today I thought I would review the Primark ( Penneys for us in Ireland) Lashes in the style “Sultry” , These are my go to lashes for either a, going out dramatic look or an everyday look that I want to add that little bit more to. I have gone through so many pairs of these its insane , so I thought I would do a little review for people who are hesitant on picking them up.

The sultry lashes go for a very budget friendly €1.50 ( I think its £1 in the UK. ) these lashes are not unlike the Ardell Whispies and for the price , you can’t complain. I usually don’t like to hold onto these lashes after the second use because I feel like I’ve gotten my wear out of them. I feel the same with the ardell whispies but to each their own.

I tend to go through lashes quite frequently so I don’t like buying expensive lashes that will end up in the bin after a second use, so these lashes are perfect for me because i don’t feel guilty about binning them after a night out!

These lashes are sooo fluffy and so light that they are extremely easy to apply. I used to suck at applying false lashes but these lashes make it a little more easier since they aren’t heavy. Depending on your eye shape you might need to cut them to shape your eyes , but it really isn’t too hard , just measure them up and take note on where to cut the lashes , you should always cut from the outside since you want to keep the lashes looking natural as possible.

I would recommend these lashes to anyone whos starting out with makeup or people who aren’t quite 100% confident in applying falsies , these lashes are the perfect price and size to fiddle with and practice on and you’ll be a pro at applying lashes by the end of it all!

I hope you enjoyed this little review and found it somewhat helpful. If you have tried these lashes or any of primarks lashes , comment below and tell me what you think of them!

July Favourites 2015 ♡

julyfavourites

Hi Everyone!

I’m a mere 6 days late with this but I thought I would put up my july favourites anyways since I do have quite a bit that I’ve been loving this month in terms of pretty much everything! I’m hoping to get up a review this week too so hold tight for that. Lets get started on the all important favourites!

Beauty Favourites:

1. L’Oreal Infallible 24 hour foundation: If you’ve read my review on this foundation you’ll know that it is probably my favourite drugstore foundation at the moment and I don’t know whether its going to change soon. I decided to give this foundation a go after I seen numerous Beauty Gurus on Youtube rave about it , I fell in love at first application. You can read my full review on this product HERE

2.Benefits Hola Bronzer: I got this product a few months back , and have been using it religiously since. Its a cult favourite in the makeup world , everyone has had to try it at least once. I actually have many uses for this product such as the obvious Bronzer , I also use this to contour lightly and as eyeshadow. Its such a diverse product. I also wrote about this product HERE.

3.L’Oreal La Palette Nude: I’ve used this palette everyday since I’ve gotten it either mixing it up with different colours in other palettes or sticking to only this palette. The shades in this palette are all warm which is perfect for me because I’m a warm toned kind of gal and I look almost corpse like once one cool toned shade is on my skin. Absolutely adore this palette only thing I don’t quite like is the price. I’m not a fan of spending almost 20 euro on a drugstore palette.

Movie Favourites:

So I only have one movie favourite of this month , but I still wanted to talk about it. I would love to hear about your favourite movies so I could give them a look, I recently went to see Ant-Man and was a little disappointed. Please leave suggestions below.

1. Pretty Women: So recently I found myself quite bored at the house so decided to have a good rut through the old DVD collection and came across this classic! I had seen clips and bits of this movie but never really took time to watch it fully. I watched it and loved it , I actually watched the film 3 times that day! I absolutely adore Julia Roberts and her laugh is absolutely golden! I actually think I might have to go watch it again… hmm…

Youtubers:

1.NikkiTutorials: I adore this girl! She is so down to earth and amazing at what she does, she’s really given me the inspiration on trying out new makeup looks and giving new makeup products a go. She’s deffinitly worth the watch and she’s also hilarious, what more could you want?

2.RachelLeea: I haven’t been subscribed to Rachel that long but I’ve been falling in love with her and her youtube channel quickly this past month, she covers everything basically from Makeup Tutorials to Q&A’s to Healthy eating tips and DIY decor , She’s a joy to watch and will get your inspitation going if you’re lacking the motivation to do a project.

So thats my favourites guys , I would really appreciate if you could leave me some movie suggestions below because my summer is coming to an end but I still love cuddling up and having a lazy day by the TV. So if its to do with Superheros Romance or Comedy leave it below!

What’s in my Bag? ♡

whatsinmybagedit

Hi Everyone!

I thought I would do this tag today , I’ve been wanting to do it for a long time now but was never really comfortable with how much clutter and excuse my french but shit , that has been in my bag. I should probably start off and say that I am a bag obsessed freak!! For as long as I can remember I have always loved hand bags and I needed to buy a new one almost every week. I can honestly say my obsession with hand bags has now gone to the back of my head and I’ve purchased maybe 3 tops this year.

The bag I am currently using is on I got from H&M for €50. A little pricey I know but I had my eye on it for quite some time and decided why not? I can treat myself now! So lets delve into the contents!

whatsinmybagedit2

1. Makeup Bag: I got this makeup bag from River Island and it was a birthday gift from my friend Sarah , I can never go a day without touching up my makeup be it either my mascara or my lippy , I NEED my makeup bag with me at all times. I have a Whats in my Makeup Bag post on moi blog which you can read all about HERE.

2. Detangler: Another necessity for me, I get extremely unruly hair, it knots so bad , to the point I can’t use a normal brush, my hair is quite thin and not in the best condition it could be in so this helps with not ripping my hair out of my skull … so yes a life saver!

3.Purse: Probably one of the most important things that everyone should have in their bag. I actually have 2 purses one for my notes and euros , and then another for small change , I can’t stand it when my change is all in my purse because I can’t stand mess!

4.Sunglasses: I’m forever hopeful that the weather in Ireland will pick up… aren’t we all?

5.Keys: Handy for when you don’t want to be locked out of your house and when you’re out late drinking and you need to get in the door! again a necessity

6: Passport: Life is hard when you look like a 4 year old when you’re actually 19. Gotta keep that ID on me!

7. Lynx  for Women: Pretty obvious why I would carry this about. I wanna smell good and I really like this scent so it works for me! Nobody likes a smelly person.

8: iPhone: I like to keep in contact with people , I have the iphone 4s , I should probably upgrade because this phone is absolutely terrible for its battery , its dead within  2 hours off the charge. Has anyone else got this problem or is it just me? let me know

That’s really all I have in my bag , Its massive and I literally have nothing in it haha! Nothing surprising nothing too unusual I suppose. I hope you liked this post , its something I haven’t done before but I actually enjoyed writing it. I love reading these types of posts cause deep down I’m a little curious to know what else I should probably have in my bag.

I feel like I have enough in my bag I don’t want to clutter it with stuff I wouldn’t use like my past bags ( I had sweets , a toothbrush , wipes and water bottles in it!)

Thanks so much for reading guys you can follow me on Twitter and Instagram to see what I get up to when I don’t blog!
